Interviews – local style

I was just reading this article and is worth sharing and writing a bit about this

Xero (a local tech company) director revealed a interview trick – he refuses to hire anyone who doesn’t offer to take their coffee cup back to the kitchen after a job interview with him!

Seriously!? It seems there is some logic behind the test: is not about skills or experience but about fitting in the local culture – that basic test was designed to check if a candidate fits into the Kiwi company’s culture of ownership (aka wash the dishes and do the laundry to impress the boss)

Elon Musk (Tesla/SpaceX/Boring etc) uses tricky questions. Google interviews are also tricky and in general they try to explore certain abilities but this … really falls into the colorful and funny areas of the local culture
