California dreamin
I guess is time for a change and I’m just writing few things to record this particular moment – I started this blog 4 years ago aiming to help friends to get some knowledge of what is to start from zero in a different country – irony of things, most people reading this site is from USA, Canada, Europe … so time to start just writing in English instead
I have started so many things during the last months… so to gain focus I’m dropping the following:
- www.r2d2.ai – a technical blog. It started with a simple idea to put articles there about tech, focus on AI/ML, it gained some traction, but will be moving all articles and continue here instead, with some proper tag/category – you will soon see tech-related articles
- www.liahona.info – I never got to a point to define what I really wanted to cover with it, it started like a tool – long story short will do something simple as part of other things I’m working on
- www.fluent.ninja – Don’t even ask … it was meant to be the backend of something else
- Instagram – I’ve been closing the door to it couple times, I’m so done with that…
On the other hand, few things will change:
- xiasmos.com (my consulting firm) will have a separate blog area
- abbacca.com (startup) – it took me some time to figure out where I want to go and how to start, but so far it’s an exciting ride – will update about this soon
I worked without pause all the last year so I tool a week off, headed to California – had few plans but plans changed and it turned out to be a great road trip instead. I just came back weeks ago. Something changed and I feel like the dots are connecting somehow
Below some photos of the beautiful San Juan Capistrano mission and around. The place is great to visit, about 1.5 Hr drive from Los Angeles on the way to San Diego. The mixture of cultures or Spanish influence is notorious and that is maybe where things started to change for me. Traveling is not just enjoying beautiful places but a time to reset and to ponder few things as well. It is really easy to find someone to talk in Spanish there, somehow it also feels close to home. A small home nearby had many small things in their garden for sale, like if time was captured in so many small details. Deep inside I know I’m away from home but I feel that if I bring things from the future (the work in progress) maybe home will get closer
So I decided it was time to start sharing what I have been working, either short stories, software, etc – it is about time to start leaving my mark and that means to drop things that right now are not aligned with it
Either way it will take me a while to publish. It will also take me some time to launch/release the initial software services – but at least I’m determined to do so
One thing that will remember from this road-trip is the “dream big” feeling or style from California and I love this quote, as it is exactly how I feel now:
“So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable”—Christoper Reeve
